Summer Cultural Camp

The Anjali School of Dance in conjuction with the Geethanjali School of Music  will offer
a summer camp this year. Activities that have been planned include  Bharatanatayam,  
Carnatic vocal, Story telling and enactment of Hindu mythological stories, Gita verses and
shlokams and other cultural activities.

Dates: July 11th – July 22nd 2005 (M-F)
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Age: 6 and above

Half day options (both AM and PM sessions) are also available

First 15 students to sign up receive special discount
Sibling discounts are also available

Camp daily schedule
9:00 am - 10:00 am - Bharatanatyam / Carnatic vocal
10:00 am - 10:30  am - Snack
10:30 am - 12:30 pm - Bharatanatyam / Carnatic vocal
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - Lunch and free time
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm - Hindu Mythological story telling and enactment
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm - Gita verses and shlokams
3:30 pm - 4:00 pm - Other cultural activities (see below)

Materials covered:
Bharatanatyam - 2 dances (minimum)
Carnatic vocal - 4 songs (minimum)
Hindu mythological stories - Dasavatharam, Panchatantra stories, Stories about Lord
Krishna, Stories about Lord Rama
Gita chanting – 5 verses per day (total of 50 verses), Ganesha Pancharathnam (week 1) and
Madhurashtakam (week 2)

Other cultural activities:
Day 1: Kolam and rangoli
Day 2: Appreciating classical dances of India - Bharatanatyam
Day 3: Yoga
Day 4: Appreciating classical dances of India - Mohiniattam
Day 5: Spoken sanskrit
Day 6: Appreciating classical dances of India - Kuchipudi
Day 7: Introduction to Indian musical instruments
Day 8: Appreciating classical dances of India - Odissi
Day 9: Famous Carnatic music composers
Day 10: Henna
